to Overview
When The Group began this
work, Ray described himself as, "The youngest of the old folks
on this project and perhaps the most questioning." Ray questioned
not the source of this material nor the method by which it was given,
but the reason for each statement. He would ask: "Why
me? Why a picnic? What is the purpose of it?" (The Teachers
had requested during the book's dictation that Ray hold a picnic
for the group, which he did not do because it made no sense to him.)
While his questions may indicate a lack of faith to many readers
of this text, his spiritual growth and development serve as a model
for all doubters.
Today, Ray describes
how these same teachings affected him since he wrote the above quote.
"I am much more tolerant of others, that is, behavior that
would have driven me crazy to witness back then, I am now able to
observe and find joy in the diversity. I work with people who may
be described as difficult to be around, yet I just watch and learn
and smile. I do not worry about anything. At least not that I am
aware of now. I have learned that what happens happens. I subscribe
to, 'Trust in wise protection, but lock your car.' In other words,
have a strong belief in good results, but take sensible precautions
to avoid being a victim. Be ready for joyous opportunities. I now
find it easy to find goodness and beauty in everything and everyone;
however, some things take a bit longer than others."
In his personal life,
Ray continues to be a dedicated family man and a foster parent when
needed. Raising children who also question authority and continue
to ask why takes up much of his mind's time, but not so much that
he does not get involved in working hard away from home and in the
community now and again.
Professionally, Ray is a Renaissance man.
His education in electronics and years as a "fixer" have
enabled him to repair almost anything that is broken. His dedication
to music has led to the preservation of the sound track of this
book as it was channeled by Ruth Lee, as well as other works from
The Teachers of the Higher Planes. His commitment to "getting
the work out" enabled many spiritual lessons from many sources
to be published by LeeWay Publishing in the past.
For the love of wife and family, Ray moved away from the Pittsburgh
Area soon after this book was recorded. He left his position on
the local school board for a life in New Mexico where his wife studied
acupuncture and Chinese medicine. To further her career, Ray and
Chris and their family then moved to the Tampa, Florida area where
he is working at what he does so very, very well...preserving tapes.
