to Overview
Some people believe that Lynn is shy or has little to say, but
neither assessment is true. Lynn is careful about her speech and
does what she says. She speaks out only after careful consideration
of what she holds to be true and wants to do herself. She does not
attempt to tell others how to live.
Lynn described her life when she became involved with this work
and this group as follows: "I try to live my life as directed
by this book. I gave up being a stay-at-home Mom when we moved away
from Pittsburgh. I got a job outside my home in order to interact
more with other people, in order to understand how they live, what
they believe, and where they are coming from, so to speak. As a
result, I have met many wonderful people and learned so much in
the process."
The second of three daughters, Lynn's parents divorced when she
was very young. She was raised primarily by her grandmother, who
passed away shortly before Lynn became a part of this group. Lynn
attended Catholic schools and is an alumna of Duquesne University.
However, she credits much of her spiritual development to two influences
outside her church--her maternal grandmother, who raised her, and
Ruth Lee who introduced her to the work of The Teachers of the Higher
Planes.
Ruth Lee has been a friend and spiritual mentor to Lynn for many
years. Lynn describes their very special relationship as follows:
"Ms. Lee and I have worked on other projects together, and
I studied privately with her for several years prior to working
on this book. She helped me conquer severe depression, and I believe
she has been responsible for other healings that I have experienced
over the years. I am grateful to The Teachers and Saints for allowing
me to participate in this life-changing work called Can
You Pray?.
