The Maya also developed a remarkable way of keeping count and of expressing universal wisdom through their numeric and symbolic characters or glyphs. These numerals and glyphs are the basis of the sacred count of days or Tzolkin.  The calendar is fascinating in itself for its unique appearance and depth of meaning, but it is also a way to study your life today and to begin to free the mind and allow the spirit to come to the fore and elevate all that one can aspire to and do. The Great Maya Teachers are not lost, but waiting for those who are ready to learn what they have to teach the world today about surviving and transcending a world in decay.

Julie is an artist, writer, and certified polarity therapy practitioner. With a background in yoga, a degree in Fine Arts from Washington University, and a desire for spiritual growth, Julie became a regular student and private client of Ruth Lee in 1994, shortly after she and her then-husband relocated to the Pittsburgh Area. She participated in weekly meditation and study groups, as well as frequent seminars, and assisted with the early work of LeeWay Publishing.

Through her work with Ruth Lee, Julie was able to realize many personal dreams as she nurtured her longtime interests in yoga, polarity therapy, working in clay, in-depth Mayan calendar study, as well as writing. She credits the influence and example of her mother, numerous spiritual teachers including her Guides, as well as her work with Ruth Lee - Scribe, as enabling her to tap into her own inner sources of wisdom and artistry to produce a life that grows ever better for her.

Along the way Julie founded Heartsong Center in New Haven, Connecticut, where she taught yoga, art, meditation, and holistic health practices as well as conducting various seminars based on the work of Ruth Lee and others. She created the cover art for "Within the Veil: An Adventure in Time" and helped edit several other yet-to-be-published novels by Ruth Lee, as well as contributing student commentary to "The Maya Word", which Ruth channeled from the Ancient Maya Timekeepers. Annually Julie produces Mayan calendars inspired by teachings of the Maya Timekeepers and beautifully enhanced with her art. As if all that was not enough, Julie lectured, taught, and practiced polarity therapy in each city she lived in
during a time of transition from busy wife and mother to singular star.

Today Julie lives in Asheville, North Carolina, where she has worked in media relations, special events and  marketing at an historic Four Star Resort. Outside her office she continues to write, to study and explore spiritual disciplines, and to pursue her creative work in the medium of clay. Impressed with her skills, Ruth Lee commissioned a unique sculpture in clay that depicts her many totems. Julie is happily married to renowned glass artist, Carl Powell, who specializes in large public art commissions, stained designs for residential settings, and contemporary glass sculpture. in the last paragraph:
