May 15, 2008 Thought for The Day

Why not love everyone?  You don't have to!  Really...you are expected, however, to tolerate all.  What does that mean?  If you have no idea, try reading what The Teachers have to say about it in their first book of wisdom... "We Are Here"

Are you for or against God and what that means today?

Hey Ruth,
I had a great discussion in the kitchen this morning about a movie titled “The Mist.”  This is a movie that was out last summer and was supposed to be scary because of an unseen monster trapping a grocery store filled with people.  I told my co-worker that it is an excellent story on human behavior and that the writer, Stephen King, always writes about good and evil.  One of the characters is a religious zealot and when one of the monsters comes to claim her in the grocery store, it leaves her untouched.

Sharing Mayan Views

Sharing here a really great letter from on of our Mayanist friends and contributor to The Blog. I am sure most of you will enjoy her news as much as I do, but I do want to say that I started with memories of our trip to Mayaland in 1998 tracking Mandy’s route through the countryside and we covered so much that it would take a day to sort it all out and do it justice… Ended on another note….

Hey Ruth,

…Have to mention that I had a treat this evening.  There is a retired professor, archeologist, and editor of National Geographic magazine who likes north or Asheville -maybe 30 miles or so in Barnardsville.  He is president of the Center for Mayan research.  Occassionally he publishes articles in the Asheville Citizen Times.

May 14, 2008 Thought for The Day

There is a theory that covers just about every possibility.  Are you able to even comprehend what they spend on discovering that it is not going to be read?

Indiana Jones and the Mayan Crystal Skulls

Caught the following news in my morning paper last night (yes, I do fall behind, but try to keep up)…

Dateline:
Palenque, Mexico (You already know about Palenque, right?)

There’s a legend that the ancient Maya possessed 13 crystal skulls which, when united, hold the power of saving the Earth—a tale so strange and fantastic that it inspired the latest Indian Jones movie.

Inspiriting Web Site - The Hunger Project

Thanks, Helen, for sending in this great link to share with everyone here.
By the way, have you seen the hunger project web site? If not, here’s a link: http://www.thp.org/ This isn’t the (same kind of) help programs that are so "common." The Hunger project has a different approach that I find interesting, maybe you will too?
Have a great day! Helen

May 13, 3008 Thought for The Day

Criticizing the way someone makes a living is not a nice way to introduce your views.  Better to ask what they do and discover why they do it than to assume you would never do it, too.  Why?  God has a weird way of paying you back whenever you are naughty.

The greatest gift is love...

This is absolutely the BEST gift I received! What a wonderful thing for siblings to get together and gift their mother who really wanted a session with The Scribe very, very much. I do not encourage clients to give gift certificates to work with me usually because the recipient probably has no clue about what I do and only a vague idea based on the scope of work I do with their friend or family member.  It seldom works out that well, but this time it was a complete and total success, and I am so very happy! I just loved doing this one because it was so full of great ideas and surprises and life!

Quickly run over your list of things that must be done now.  Are you doing any of them?  If so, smile.  You are probably the only one who believes that now.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY, Part 2

Thanks to Micky for this one...it's a keeper.
Your Mother is always with you. She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street, she's the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick and perfume that she wore, she's the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well, she's your breath in the air on a cold winter's day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of a rainbow, she is Christmas morning. Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop.

A mother shows every emotion....happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy, love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow...and all the while hoping and praying you will only know the good feelings in life. She's the place you came from, your first home, and she's the map you follow with every step you take.  She's your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, not space...not even death!

MAY WE NEVER TAKE OUR MOTHERS FOR GRANTED.
'The best and most beautiful things cannot be seen or touched - they must be felt with the heart.'

Happy Mother's Day!

As Rebecca says below, in the spirit of Mothers Day, thank you, for all you do, too!  Thank you for all the wonderful cards and thoughts...much appreciated always.  I have time to devote to so many of you because i do not have children of my own, but i have raised a few and been involved with the teaching of many and know what many of you go through to raise a family in today's society.  I salute all of you!  Take a bow now!
We are soon going to be gone for a short time to renew our energy and work with Spirit and hope that all of you will remember this blessing when Father's Day rolls around because i will not be here that Sunday to wish you the best, too.
