Grandfather Cirilo of today's Maya speaks again

Hi Ruth,
This is a message from the Mayan Elders warning people to not buy into the fear mongering movie 2012 that has just been released. There is a link to the Mayan movie that is being created to reveal the true meaning of 2012.
Love, RoseAnn

Shift of the Ages - Great Mayan Film Coming Soon

Recently a clip entitled ‘Creation’ from the new Mayan movie: “Shift of the Ages” was issued and now a second clip is available for viewing. Those of you who traveled with me through Guatemala in 2007 will immediately recognize the sacred sites visited in this clip and the newest release called ‘Misconceptions.’ Links to these clips are provided at the end, please take out a couple of minutes to view both of them.

About ‘Misconceptions’

The clip called Misconceptions  is particularly important to the Maya people.  Misconceptions addresses several misunderstandings which have caused great pain for the Maya people for hundreds of years. The Maya are often referred to as a civilization of the past, millions of traditional Maya are practicing their religious beliefs and living as always today.

2012 Isn’t just another year or is it?

Many thanks to Lynne for forwarding this link. I read the article the other day while away and would have forgotten to include it here. Nothing new to those of you who read Angel of The Maya and my other Mayan work.

Thought you'd like this intelligent article re the Maya.
Hope you are having a great day!
 Love and blessings, Lynne

Lost World of the Maya

Hey Ruth, I was on USAtoday’s website and there is a big article on the Maya called Archaeologists Dive Deep into The Lost World Of The Maya.  Millicent

Note from ruth: I think you will find this article interesting. I have entered cenotes in Yucatan and even swam in the sacred caves of the ancient Mayan women there, but have not visited Belize so far. Cenotes are sacred places and gathering spots, but the newest generation of explorers and scientists are somewhat tied up in their underwear. :) Sometimes we, especially Americans, believe we are the greatest minds God ever created and we believe that we are smarter than everyone who ever came before us, but we are not. There is mystery and discovery in the world of The Maya, but most of it will not be uncovered in a dive or a climb.

Virtual Book Club Meeting on Angel of The Maya

Last night a few people hastily gathered together to chat about my book Angel of The Maya and we taped part of the meeting to share on the ATM web site in the future.  The book is so fascinating and goes into so many different waves length that most everyone has read it several times and gets a different message each time.  Since all of you are working here and stopping by The Blog and may not have any idea about who i am or what is behind these hands typing now, here's your chance to get a little bit of the flavor of my personality or whatever it is that came forward then.  Hope you enjoy the meeting, too.

Lessons from The Maya

Time to move up our attempts to reach the world before it is too late to do much to turn it about and achieve its greatest levels of understanding and love.  Here is another attempt by someone to put into film what the Mayan elders teach now and are able to share with you in Angel of The Maya as well.

Another Angel of The Maya Miracle

MAYAN ELDER INAUGURATED INTO PUBLIC OFFICE
Guatemala City, Guatemala August 9, 2008
Speech by President Alvaro Colom Caballeros
Honorable representatives of the Council of Elders of Guatemala, Vice president of the Republic, Ministers, Diplomatic  Body, friends of the Republic that accompany us today. In this day, most likely, not all of us who are here present in this plaza can comprehend the significance of this event. Today I come dressed in Kashlan because I come from a Kashlan family, I didn't have the honor to be born into an Indigenous village.

In June of 1994 I was honored and blessed by the Heart of the Heavens to meet Don Alejandro Cirilo Perez Oxlaj. He has had the patience to teach me those principles, the 20 days of the Mayan calendar, that ancestral wisdom. I continue to be his student. Because I was not born into an Indigenous village, I didn't receive the Mayan education from my birth, instead I entered into it in my later years.  I have had the honor to meet many of the Indigenous Elders that are here today. We have shared many things together in these past 14 years.  (The president addresses some Elders here and mentions specific memorable incidents he had with them in places like Iximche, Peten, etc.)  It is this connection with them, this walking at their side, learning from them, this is what has transformed my life. It transformed it so much that it has made me the President now.

NOVA Presents Cracking the Maya Code

Just in case you missed Nova’s presentation of Michael Coe’s book on breaking the Mayan Scribes’ code to unlock the meanings of their steles and codices, here is a link you can check out the lead-in or use the second link to view the entire program.  Save them somewhere so you can watch them over and over again.

When It Takes a Miracle to Sell Your House

The year is ending and some reading this right now have property they want to sell RIGHT NOW!  Having tried everything, you think, did you think to turn the sale of your house over to God and ask St. Joseph to intercede on your behalf?  Don't laugh...remember what we said in Angel of The Maya about intercessory help from saints...and apply it to your own life now.

How Weavers Are Changing The World Right Now

Ironically, some might say, but i do not...the publisher of "Angel of The Maya," (ATM describes a brand new idea in helping others while you perfect your own particular abilities and art), has long supported a wonderful organization that is in place right now that helps women weavers of baskets from impoverished nations all over the world.  It isn't run like the compounds described in ATM, but follows another great model that is helping millions of women who are spiritually impoverished help others who are merely financially impoverished now.
Check it out and see if it meets your approval and expectations of how women can make a difference in the lives of others now.  Also note that men are benefitted, too...as they are in Mandy's compounds in Mayaland.  To find out more about Basket Weaving co-ops,  Click here: The Blessing Basket Project or copy and paste this to your browser now:  http://www.blessingbasket.org/

Angel of The Maya is available now in time for Christmas giving and will be much appreciated by women who are movers and shakers and those who are just not sure what they can possibly do now to help this world.
To have it in your hands before Christmas, order before midnight, Friday, December 14!    Go to:  www.AngelofTheMaya.com

The Meaning of Weaving to Indigenous Women

Today we need to all consider what weaving means to the indigenous woman and her family...but first you have to go back to the past to do that.  Why not start here?

Too often however, to be indigenous and a female, is to be disadvantaged. As Alan Riding states, in his book Distant Neighbours: “Proud of its Indian past, Mexico seems ashamed of its Indian present’. In Chiapas, for example, indigenous people were only granted the right to walk on the streets during the 1970s. Perhaps it is for this reason that some younger Triques prefer not to wear their traditional huipiles.

This does not mean however, that Trique women have forgotten how to make huipiles—for the time being at least. “My daughter learned to weave when she was four,” says Martinez. “She does have a huipile, but only wears it for special occasions.” Tourism, in part, is helping to maintain their weaving tradition, but is changing it in the process.
