Sometimes we get too bogged down to run away for a few days, but what a delight to have friends who share what they did. I love to hear about interesting and unique places and things…please share with us here what you dare. : ) Consider yourself introduced to yet another friend from The Blog…
Hi Ruth,
Thanks for the link. It worked this time, and I signed the guestbook.
I just returned home with Carl and Jasper (her black standard-size poodle).
We went for a short trip to
Georgia to view an old mansion in Helen, GA. which was owned by three successive well-to-do southern families from 1869 until 2006. The Hardon family owned it for many years until turning it over to the state. Now the place is going to be renovated and preserved. Carl's sister's husband's company will be doing the renovation.
There is a unique front door with twelve window sections - some of which are damaged and need to be restored or replaced. The glass is a special glass that is clear glass with a very thin coating of red glass fused to the surface. Portions of each section were masked off, and the other areas were sand blasted in order to execute and intricate floral pattern. So the design is a very striking rich red with flowing clear textured floral design in each pane. We also went to the glass supply company in Taccoa before returning home.
Now, the medicine Buddha...I have not been specifically aware of that Buddha, but from time to time I do see a seated spinning Buddha while I am sitting quietly. I will see if I can research or just sit and ask about this one.
Weather here has been lovely and a really great time to take a little trip. Kind of hate to go back to the office tomorrow, but the trip was truly refreshing, and I am thankful for that. Will connect with you this evening in dream class.
See you soon! Julie
