What Say You About the Economy?

How are you doing? I mean, how are you making out? Which translated to Today Speak means ‘is the economy wearing you down or are you just fine?’

Half of Americans polled say everything is great, no complaints…but the other half says they are drowning in debt and are scared to death. Should we all start praying or not?

When should you pray for money and prosperity…if ever? Are you aware of the need to keep your mind centered and focused on being ahead of the bill collector always or do you say “God will provide!” and damn the torpedoes and go ahead and spend?

My mother belonged to the latter philosophy and I suffered a lot because I am centered on paying my way all day, every day.  It is hard on any relationship where two people disagree on how to spend money usually. But what I found so very disturbing this week is seeing one of the perennial, long-held sacred relationships—a boy and his dog, tragically affected now.

I was shocked two nights ago to watch the 11 o’clock local news and see animal shelters in Lee County (Ft. Myers, FL) are overflowing with dogs and about half as many cats. Why? People are coming in every day for the past month or so leaving their dogs behind because they can no longer afford to feed them. They say they have to choose between feeding their dogs and driving to work…so the dogs have to go! I cannot express to you how I felt to see so many dogs barking and wagging their tails -- excited to see someone, hoping to be adopted soon.

We ran a blog entry recently about the problem everywhere with Big Black Dogs having to be euthanized more than all other pets combined…and yes, there were a huge number of big dogs shown and a lot of them were dark brown or black. How sad!

With regards to the "Economy" - we are supposed to know that there is no "lack" in our universe. There is plenty - God has provided that plenty and it is upsetting to see the media portraying this terrible "lack" with dramatic stories like the animal shelter story. This is to get people to feel an emotional connection to the "lack" (of which there really is none) instead of saying - how could these people overspend for so long and then choose to give up their pets in order to drive their Hummers and huge SUVs....it is a matter of choice and I believe too many have been choosing to live too "high off the hog" for way too long now and it is catching up with them.
The Spirit Guides keep telling us that there is no lack and that we should be seeing the "plenty" the great abundance that God has provided for us - so why don't we see it? We don't understand the Law of Attraction, that's why.
Sorry for the rant - but we need to be less affected by the media and more by what we know is truth.

For those of you who are facing the same situation in your area and wonder what to do about the victims of an ongoing recession that half the population obviously does not feel (yet?)...here is what Ft. Myers animal rescue organizations are doing to get out the word. They are using all facets of the media... Yesterday the NewsPress carried the story front page with links to a video where animal workers talk about effects of economy on pets. www.news-press.com/video. They suggest you start a forum or participate in "story Chat" at end of their story. www.news-press.com and you can get a list of places and web sites for adopting pets in SW Florida there, too. In addition, the New Press has posted a photo gallery of animals for adoption in Lee County and abandoned pets. www.new-press/galleries.

For those of you sainted beings who rescue animals every chance you get, they have a wonderful article dedicated to your unselfish work you can read on line, too.
