The angels have taken back one of their own!
People often ask me the same question when we talk about my life...which is not that often if i can help it. The question? What gives you joy?
I always state the same thing and strangers do not believe it, but it is truly what gives me the greatest joy in life and always has. I love to see my friends, family, and clients do well and reach their full potential...not fullest, because that is too long a wait for someone my age.
Anyway, many, many things bring me joy! If you asked my mother when i was tiny she would have said it was my unfathomable love of 'long haired' music and Caruso. She would grow tired of my playing such music.
So, imagine my regret that the man who replaced Caruso in my life...Pavarotti, passed away from today! I am not mourning his death, just thrilled to have had him in my ears and life for so many years. Thank you, God for that!
In case you did not know Pavarotti, he got seriously upset each and every time he sang--only the response of the audience afterwards could ease his concern that he would not sing well enough to deserve such a role.
May i recommend my very favorite eclectic selection of Pararotti arias from various operas...I am playing it now as i write and will probably play it for the best part of this week when i am in my office. Pavarotti "Amore" Romantic Italian Love Songs...put out by London in 1992.
The first track is Pavarotti's personal favorite and always associated most with his art...'Nessun Dorma!' from the opera "Turandot" by Puccini... Recently shared here on the blog...sung by a young man from Wales on UTube video. Look it up on the index posted at the right side of my blog and play it again....Not Pavarottie, but perhaps our next greatest tenor. We will all live to see it....
