Checking In and Checking Out one of our friends

Today seemed like a great time to introduce some of you new to The Blog to one of our frequent contributors.  You are urged to comment on the site because it is in flux right now and being built up as we speak.  There is no pressure to buy, not even an order form pushed at you as you check things out.  Start with the story and then let it lead you to another page after that.  You will be surprised!

October 12, 2008 Thought for The Day

The threat of a rainy day is that you might get wet.  Is that outrageous and mean or is it just a matter of being prepared for the usual and natural?  Why not be prepared and ready regardless of weather conditions now?

Follow Up on Prayers, More Needed

Hi Ruth-
We had a very good meeting with the radiation oncologist today.  Dad's cancer is very curable.  He will need at least 8 weeks of daily radiation to his head, neck and chest, and a feeding tube for a while.  He may loose his hearing on one side and have a bit of slurred speech as a result but his prognosis is very positive.  He'll have a time of it for 6-9 months, but should come out of everything ok.

We are all so thankful

Thank you for your prayers and all the energy you sent me.  I could feel it!

Hugs, Lynne.

Let’s all keep Lynne’s dad on our prayer lists for the next few months as he heals. There is always a chance this is worst case scenario and he will not be as incapacitated as it appears may be the case now. Thank God for his recovery so far and ability to continue with his life as he wills it to be.

Thinking about yourself a lot?  Are you ignoring others or in deep trouble?  If not in trouble, and thinking about only yourself, you will be in trouble--a lot.

Prayer Request for the Dalai Lama

Dalai Lama hospitalized after checkup in New Dehli - Yahoo! News

Notes:  Thanks to Kathy for spotting this news today.

Some of you may have followed through on my book review listed here last year of a novel that takes place when the Dalai Lama passes and his successor must be found before the Chinese government finds him.

On the cusp of manhood

Hey Ruth,
I did something today at work I would normally don't do, which is give advice or give a suggestion to someone without being asked.  However, I meditated and said a prayer before I offered a suggestion to my co-worker about her teenage son.  I remembered you shared with me about overhearing a conversation where you know you need to say just one thing to hopefully turn a situation around.

October 10, 2008 Thought for The Day

Every time you feel great, appreciate others and share your power.  Every time you feel left out or let down, ask another for a boost and see who is there for you then.

One Minute Each Night is all it takes

This suggestion is tailor-made for a group such as ours…

During WWII, there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England, its people and peace. This had an amazing effect as bombing stopped.

October 9, 2008 Thought for The Day

Ever want to take credit for work another does?  If so, plan on others doing it to you, too.  Each person opens to what they accept and will tolerate and the door swings both ways.

Can you change your family by simply being yourself?

The scribed response follows this letter.

Hi Ruth,
I have to share something amazing!  My brother Chris has been worried about his
girlfriend.  She has some things going on that she does not want to share with him
or pull him into.  He has been distraught and wanting to help her.  I showed him how
to send love and light, and we did a session together last weekend.

If I only had 30 Days to Live

Here’s the assignment. Take a couple of minutes to really think about this and jot down a few ideas. To get you started, read what Stephanie sent along with this headline and then scan what one who is facing such a thought would do.

Summon up my alchemical abilities that are sourced through GOD to claim my new home near the beach (I like Long Beach)

I would make it a point to brag at least once a day and acknowledge my sisters on the SWA mastery grad boards

Each day call at least one person that i care for very deeply and let them know I'm thinking about them
